19th Century Historic Village Experiences

Bring your scouts to the Museum for your next outing!

Advance registration is required, and programs are filled on a first-come, first-reserved basis, so make your reservations early! For more information, to check availability, or to book a program, please email 


Your reservation will not be complete until the date is confirmed and the necessary deposit is received to hold your date.  No refunds will be given unless your program is canceled by GCV&M. For additional information call (585) 294-8262.

GCV&M Patch Program

Learn about the young child’s life in the 19th century through games and hands-on activities. The exploration may include a lesson at the Schoolhouse, a visit to the Pioneer Farm, time at an elegant home, and an activity with a Museum craftsperson. Boys will be loaned a 19-century costume at the start of the program.

Fee includes costume rental and an exclusive GCV&M patch for each scout. Please note: costumes are not available for adults.

Base Fee covers 12 youth and 3 adults. Each additional youth is extra. Each additional adult is extra.

Fishing Merit Badge

Join one of our naturalists on a 3 hours fishing expedition to GCV&M’s Lake Surprise. Whether you’re a first time fisher or a master angler – you’re sure to have a blast. This program meets the requirements for the fishing merit badge – including learning to clean and cook your own fish – if you can catch one big enough!

Fee: base fee covers 12 youth and 3 adults. Each additional youth is extra. Each additional adult is extra.

Levels: BSA

Build a S'more Campfire & Night Hike

The naturalist-led program includes an evening walk on the Nature Center’s trails to experience nature at night. Then enjoy time relaxing around the campfire, and build your own version of the classic campfire snack – S’mores! Mix and match ingredients are provided.

Fee: Base fee covers 12 youth and 3 adults. Each additional youth is extra and each adult is extra

Scout Troop or Pack Overnight

This overnight program includes a guided hike on our nature trails and a nighttime campfire complete with s’mores. Scouts can even try their hand at some 19th century games and see what entertained kids before the days of TV and videogames. Troops can choose to sleep inside the Nature Center, or bring tents to overnight in the great outdoors. We encourage small groups to join together and share your overnight experience to make it more cost effective.

Fee: base fee covers 12 youth and 3 adults. Each additional youth is extra. Each additional adult is extra.

Bring The Pack/Troop With Museum Group Rates

Visit Genesee Country Village & Museum during our regular season (mid-May through mid-October) with your group of 20 or more scouts (youth and adults) to receive a special group rate. A reservation must be made with the Museum’s Program Registrar before the date of your visit. Please call (585) 294-8218 or email for more information or to make a reservation.

Fee: $7/scout, $11/adult (minimum of 20 participants)

Available: mid-May through mid-October
