Hiking Merit Badge sequence

Rochester NY & Finger Lakes region

Troop 167 is hosting the hiking Merit Badge over the Summer/Fall of 2021.  Each hike will have an "official" date.  However, the 5- and 10-mile hikes are arranged so that families can complete them on their own time.  Simply download the Trail guides below.  Links go to shared Google Doc pdf files that present the details for each hike - including links to maps, some history of the area, and activities to be completed on the trail to satisfy the "Show and Discuss" requirements of the merit badge.  The 15- and 20-mile hikes will be completed as Group campouts in the Fall.

Please let us know if you notice any errors or have suggestions on any of the hikes - or if you have new hikes to add!

Hike #1 Mendon Pond Hike (5 miles)

Hike #2 Erie Canal Hike: Brighton to Fairport (10-miles)

Hike #3 Historic Downtown Rochester (10-miles)

Hike #4 Lower Gorge Trail Letchworth (10 miles)

Hike #4a Hojack Trail Webster   (Alternative 10 mile)

Hike #5 (15 miles) Mt. Marcy (Planned 9/21)

Hike #6 (20 miles) Cranberry Lake (Planned 10/21)

Interloken Trail is a nice trail. You want to start at the opposite end from Route 14. At the end of route 14 is an ice cream place. This trail HAS an elevation which is why you want to start at the baseball fields. Bring a snack or lunch as there is many hidden treasures on this trail, along with outhouses. (Be aware of bees hiding in outhouses.)
