Resilience

At Scoutmaster conferences, perhaps at an Eagle BoR, a favorite question is “If there was one character trait important for a Scout that is not in the Scout Law—what would it be? Asked at a recent SM conference with a Scout in T312, the answer came “Resilient”.

You were created for Influence - Scoutmaster Minute

In many ancient creation stories, the gods created humanity because they were tired and made man to be slaves.

The Bible, however, says that man (humans: both men and women) are created in the image of God.  Each of us. You and me.

God's original design is stated in Genesis 1:27-31

Genesis 1:27-31

27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Be fruitful and multiply:  In other words, Influence, share, teach, nuture, mentor, grow.

We are called to 'Influence' to 'Nuture'.

It may seem like this command is "boiling the ocean", but it starts with the people around you.  With the Scout next to you.

God has put you where you are for a reason. So, influence, nuture, encourge, help those that are right around you.

Your influence was meant to make the world a beter place.

What are you gifted with? What experiences have you had that can help others grow?  What God has given you, was meant to be given to others.. to be shared with others.

You were created to make a difference.
